Master Lightness ranges from -100 to +100. The default setting is 0. Master Lightness simply changes opacity. It is different from the standard way of making opacity adjustments because it does not reveal anything in underlying layers. Lightness can therefore cut one step in what would typically require a two-step process (lowered opacity and new white- or black-filled layer).
Lightness is not a heavy-hitter in Master mode, but it makes itself more useful in Reds, Yellows, etc., i.e., specific colors.
